Kung Fu Hustle

Couldn't resist this and ended up catching the 11.45pm show.
Basically it's your typical Stephen Chow slapstick mou lei tou (no meaning) comedy about a group of kung fu experts living incognito/in-retirement in pig sty alley. Stephen Chow plays a small time hoodlum pretending to be a member of the Axe Gang (Fu Tow Pang) and trying to extort money from these guys...... but I guess most of you would have read that from the numerous reviews already.

Halfway through the movie, my wife commented that the story line seems quite similar to the matrix and indeed there are many similar scenes (Chow beats up a whole bunch of lack suited guys who fly into the sky when kicked etc). However for pure entertainment value, this is classis Stephen Chow, like Shaolin Soccer but with much more/better effects.

Story line's not that great and if you pay attention there should be quite a few inconsistencies but nonetheless it's a truly enjoyable movie..

Rating: 5/5 if you like mou lei tou or 4/5 otherwise.
